The Ministry of Health logged 166,207 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam on Sunday, in addition to 111,635 recoveries and 63 virus-linked deaths.
The newest cases, including two imported and 166,205 domestic transmissions, were documented in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry announced.
Vinh Phuc Province recorded 29,218 of the latest local cases, including 25,056 added from previous days; Hanoi 19,065; Nghe An Province 9,333; Phu Tho Province 5,747; Dak Lak Province 4,595; Bac Giang Province 3,853; Gia Lai Province 3,502; Quang Binh Province 3,347; Quang Ninh Province 2,693; Ben Tre Province 2,227; Lam Dong Province 1,938; Binh Phuoc Province 1,812; Ho Chi Minh City 1,462; Binh Duong Province 1,175; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 823; Da Nang 765; Hai Phong City 613; and Can Tho City 112.
The health ministry confirmed 424,729 infections on Saturday.
Vietnam has detected 7,950,382 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Over 4.1 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.
Hanoi is on top of the table with 1,170,372 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 582,747, Binh Duong Province with 359,557, Nghe An Province 345,848, Hai Duong Province 314,225, Bac Ninh Province 295,595, Ca Mau Province 118,697, Tay Ninh Province with 113,635, Hai Phong City 109,638, Dong Nai Province with 105,030, Binh Phuoc Province 98,880, Da Nang with 85,903, and Can Tho City with 47,906.
Vietnam registered only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.
The health ministry reported 111,635 recovered patients on Sunday, elevating the national count to 4,103,028.
The toll has climbed to 41,880, with 63 pathogen-related deaths added today.
Vietnam has found 7,958,048 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.
Health workers have administered over 201.6 million vaccine doses, including 93,985 shots on Saturday, since vaccination was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.
More than 184.6 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,940,674 first shots, 67,876,279 second doses, 14,636,057 additional primary jabs, and 29,652,815 boosters.
A combined 17,058,446 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,752,976 first doses and 8,305,470 second jabs.
