Serious damage was recorded when a painting shop in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City burst into flames on Friday morning.
The fire broke out at the painting shop on Hai Ba Trung Street at around 6:30 am on Friday.
A failed attempt to control the blaze by local people led to flames spreading to a house block next door.
All residents were evacuated.

The art shop had been storing many flammable materials that made it difficult for firefighters to access and several explosions were heard at the scene.
Traffic on Hai Ba Trung Street was blocked to facilitate the firefighting efforts.

With help from several fire trucks and dozens of firefighters, the flames were extinguished by 7:30 am the same day, but much of the shop had already burned down.
No casualties were reported.
An investigation into the cause is underway.
