A woman from Vietnam’s Mekong Delta has been fined for letting a young boy sit on the top of her car as they were traveling on a street earlier this week.
The traffic police division in Tien Giang Province confirmed on Saturday it had imposed a VND4 million (US$170) fine upon Le Thi Diem, 31, who resides in Chau Thanh District, for carrying a person on the roof of a car.
Diem also had her driver’s license revoked for two months.
A video clip of the incident was shared on social media on Thursday.
The incident took place on a section of National Highway No.1 in My Tho City, Tien Giang Province at around 2:00 pm on Wednesday, Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper quoted H., who uploaded the video, as saying.

The car was traveling on the road when a young boy climbed up from the sunroof and sat on atop the moving vehicle, H. recalled.
Police officers later verified the case and identified Diem as the driver of the automobile.
During a working session with officers, Diem said she borrowed the car from her father.
The woman admitted to letting the 12-year-old boy sit on the roof of the car as she was driving the vehicle that day.
