Police in Hanoi announced on Tuesday that the vehicle registration database showed the owner of the Ferrari that killed a man in a crash in Nam Tu Liem District a day before is a foreigner.
The Ferrari bears the plate number 80-346-NG-74, with NG indicating foreign organizations and individuals’ ownership.
The vehicle crashed into a motorbike numbered 29T1-337.35 on Le Quang Dao Street in Nam Tu Liem District at around 5:00 am on Monday, causing the bike rider - 58-year-old L.D.T. - to die at the scene.
The car driver - a Vietnamese - and his female companion fled the scene after causing the fatal traffic accident.
Preliminary information showed that the two vehicles were running in the same direction.
They were both damaged after the collision.
Police officers collected CCTV footage along Le Quang Dao Street for an investigation into the case.
They also tracked the vehicle registration database and found out the Ferrari owner is a foreign person, whose identity is undisclosed.
The investigation is ongoing.
