The Southern Airports Services Joint Stock Company (SASCO) has put into operation a new business lounge for Muslim passengers, which is the first of its kind in Vietnam, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Jasmine lounge is qualified to provide Halal meals for Muslim passengers, upgrading the service quality of the airport.
Passengers can experience Mediterranean-style dishes that meet Halal standards, which stipulate requirements for food products and services served to Muslims.
The lounge is 300 square meters wide and can serve 70 passengers at a time.
It complies with the hygienic and Halal requirements of the Muslim law and the Malaysian Halal standards.
Its hundreds of staff members are all trained and have Halal certification.
Due to the strict dress code, most of the employees currently working at this business lounge are male.

The Jasmine lounge also offers two separate prayer rooms for men and women, ensuring a private space for worship and prayer.
The investment is expected to meet the demand of Muslim passengers from the Middle East and India, which are increasingly-developing markets for Vietnam, according to Nguyen Minh Ngoc, deputy director of SASCO.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport is projected to operate about 26,926 flights carrying about 3.85 million during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, which is calculated from January 6, 2023 to February 5, 2023.
This will be an increase of 9.39 percent and 9.5 percent in terms of flight and passenger volumes compared to the same period of 2019, respectively.
Around 130,000 passengers, including 90,000 domestic and 40,000 international ones, will be passing through the airport every day during this travel peak.
