The Vietnam Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center under the Institute of Geophysics said on Thursday that five consecutive earthquakes measuring 2.8 to 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Kon Plong District in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum from 6:00 am to 12:30 pm the same day.
The first tremor, with a magnitude of 3.3, occurred at 6:10 am.
The four latter quakes of magnitude-3.4, 2.8, 3.2, and 3 came at 11:03 am, 11:29 am, 12:12 pm, and 12:14 pm, respectively.
All the five quakes hit at a depth of about 8km.
The Vietnam Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center did not mention any disaster risk after the tremors.
In recent days, Kon Plong District has continuously experienced earthquakes.
Since mid-2021, hundreds of earthquakes have occurred in the district and some neighboring localities in Kon Tum.
The strongest earthquake occurred on the afternoon of August 23, 2022, measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale.
