Three children, who are family members, drowned in a dam in Quang Ngai Province in central Vietnam while taking a stroll with their grandparents on Saturday.
The incident happened at about 5:00 pm in Binh Khuong Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province.
The three victims are T.N.T.B., 12, T.N.T.H., 5, and C.T.C.T., 8.
B. and H. are siblings, while T. is their cousin.
Binh Son District has asked the relevant agencies to support the children’s families to hold their funerals, Nguyen Tuong Duy, chairman of the People’s Committee of the district, said on Saturday afternoon.
“The incident is so tragic that their parents, grandparents, and relatives faint continuously. They now need the support of the local authorities and neighbors,” Duy added.
The children were taken to their hometowns for a five-day holiday marking Hung Kings Commemoration Day, taking place on the 10th day of the third lunar month, which fell on April 29 this year, Reunification Day (April 30), and International Workers’ Day (May 1).
Their grandparents later took them to the dam to take a walk.
While they fell into the water, the grandparents could not save them in time.
