The first commercial flight operated by Vietnamese airline Bamboo Airways departed from Hanoi and landed in Ca Mau Province, the southern tip of Vietnam, on Saturday morning.
The flight with 95 passengers on board marked a milestone for Ca Mau and opened up opportunities for travelers to set foot on the southernmost province.
Bamboo Airways operates the air route with three flights per week, using Embraer 190 aircraft.
Each Embraer 190 aircraft can carry a maximum of 98 passengers, said Bamboo Airways Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Trong.
“We can now affirm that Ca Mau is no longer far. The event is expected to be a new motivation to attract investors and tourists to Ca Mau and develop its socio-economy,” said Huynh Quoc Viet, chairman of the People’s Committee of Ca Mau.
The Hanoi-Ca Mau air route helps shorten the travel time between the two localities to two hours and 15 minutes.
The distance between the two localities is over 1,900 kilometers and it takes several days to travel between them by road, waterways or connecting flights.
Ca Mau has high tourism development potential with two national parks, a forest ecosystem and special cultural characteristics.
The province is also home to 12 national relic sites, 32 provincial relic sites, and over 40 intangible cultural heritages.
