3 siblings drown in pond in south-central Vietnam

Three siblings drowned after falling into a pond while shepherding goats in Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam on Thursday.

The incident happened at noon in Bao An Ward, Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, the Bao An People’s Committee said on Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses said that one child accidently fell into the pond and the other two siblings died while trying to save him.  

The trio included a 10-year-old girl named N.T.N.Q., and two boys – N.H.T.D., 9, and N.D.Y., 6.

Their family is low-income, said Nguyen Minh Tuan, chairman of the Bao An People’s Committee.

The ward has called on benefactors to support the family with funeral expenses for the children, Tuan added.
