-- Vietnam always cherishes the partnership with Japan, expecting the latter to continue providing official development assistance (ODA) for the former’s development projects, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang told her Japanese counterpart Komura Masahiro during a meeting in Tokyo on Saturday.

-- The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam is seeking government support of some VND1.5 trillion (US$60 million) to expand Phu Cat Airport.

-- Doctors at a hospital in Bac Lieu Province, southern Vietnam on Friday performed surgery to remove 15 kidney stones from the bladder of a 65-year-old Vietnamese man.

-- Extreme heat is forecast to weaken in many provinces and cities in the northern and central regions on Sunday, while residents in southern Vietnam will continue experiencing the scorching hot weather, according to the national weather center.

-- Authorities in Phu Quoc City under the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang expect tourists to travel to Phu Quoc Island by speedboat during the upcoming holiday to celebrate the Reunification Day (April 30) and the International Workers’ Day (May 1).

-- The Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival 2024 kicked off at the Municipal Theater of Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday evening, featuring the presence of hundreds of local and international artists. The first edition of the fest in the city will run until April 13.
