Police in Thanh Oai District, Hanoi detained and initiated legal proceedings against a 34-year-old man working at a warehouse of a delivery company for allegedly substituting 98 Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phones with sand bags, director of the district police unit Tran Tri Dung said on Tuesday.
In particular, Dao Van Don, residing in Hoang Mai District, Hanoi, was apprehended over allegations of swindling to appropriate assets.
According to police officers, Don’s ruse was new and first seen in Thanh Oai District.
Earlier, Nguyen Trieu Q., director for the northern region at a company transporting goods for an e-commerce platform, denounced an employee at a warehouse in Binh Minh Commune, Thanh Oai District of An Lac Express Delivery Co. Ltd. for committing fraud to appropriate assets.
Q. said that the employee substituted sand bags for the phones between April 23 and 25, causing losses of over VND3 billion (US$117,819) for his company.
Police summoned all of the workers at the warehouse in Binh Minh Commune on May 28 and later found Don exchanging the phones.
Police officers are further investigating the case.
