Ho Chi Minh City verifies video of bus driver watching phone while driving

Transport authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are verifying the authenticity of a video showing a bus driver watching his phone while driving in District 5.
The video, recorded and uploaded to social media by a passenger on the bus, started circulating on Thursday.
In particular, the driver repeatedly watched a video on his phone on his left side while driving the bus on Phu Huu Street in District 5.
He kept looking at the phone when the bus was passing through high-traffic areas.
Drivers watching phones while driving vehicles will find it hard to deal with unexpected situations, causing serious consequences and danger to commuters, a netizen commented.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Management Center of Public Transport said the center had received a resident’s report of the case and would coordinate with relevant agencies to verify and handle it.
