Five earthquakes reaching a magnitude of 2.5 to 4.2 struck Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam on Thursday, according to the Institute of Geophysics.
The most powerful tremor, which occurred at 10:30 pm and measured 4.2 on the Richter scale, was felt in Quang Nam Province and Da Nang City, central Vietnam.
The aftershock, at a depth of 8.2 kilometers, was identified as the fourth to hit the district on Thursday.
These quakes posed no disaster risk.
The Vietnam Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center under the Institute of Geophysics is keeping a close watch on tremors in the province.
Since the start of August, Kon Plong District has constantly been plagued by quakes.
In particular, the district reported four tremors on August 5, while six aftershocks jolted the locale on August 3.
The district was struck by three quakes on August 8 and five tremors on August 1.
A magnitude-5 earthquake hit the district on July 28, with many localities in the central and Central Highlands regions reporting having felt the quake.
Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has reported 222 tremors, with some 98 percent of them occurring in Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province.
In July alone, 83 quakes shook the country, with 82 of them recorded in the district.
