-- Bhutan Airlines, Bhutan’s first private carrier, is set to launch a direct air service between Ho Chi Minh City and Bhutan’s Paro Town from 2025, with 10 round-trip flights departing from the Vietnamese city annually during peak travel months.

-- Ninh Chu Bay Corporation, the investor of the Ninh Chu Sailing Bay tourism project, which carries a price tag of VND4.779 trillion (US$192 million) and is located in Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam has sought authorities’ nod to terminate the project, citing financial difficulties.

-- Long An Province, southern Vietnam unveiled its plan to build a 322.3-hectare industrial park in Duc Hue District during a meeting of the provincial People’s Council on Friday. The Binh Hoa Nam 1 industrial park is expected to provide jobs for around 23,000 people.

-- A Vietjet flight with nearly 300 Taiwanese passengers on board arrived in Phu Quoc City off Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam on Friday afternoon to start their five-day tour on the popular Vietnamese island.

-- The transport authority of Ho Chi Minh City has announced a ban on all vehicles on dozens of downtown streets from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Monday next week to serve a fireworks show held the same night in celebration of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

-- During the four-day National Day holiday from August 31 to September 3, northern Vietnam is forecast to experience thunderstorms during the first two days, central Vietnam could see a break from the heat, while the Central Highlands and southern regions will likely endure late afternoon and evening thunderstorms, the national weather agency said on Friday.

-- A Brazilian Supreme Court justice ordered on Friday the "immediate suspension" of social media platform X in the country, after a court-imposed deadline expired for the company to identify a legal representative in Brazil, Reuters reported.

-- Goldman Sachs is planning to cut a few hundred jobs as part of an annual review process aimed at low performers, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday.
