The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has announced heavy rainfall is expected to batter many parts of central Vietnam starting from November 4.
On Wednesday, the forecast continues with concerns of moderate to heavy rain across the central provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, with some areas receiving up to 150mm of precipitation.
In the south-central, Central Highlands, and southern regions, scattered showers and thunderstorms can be anticipated for afternoons and evening hours.
From Wednesday night through Thursday, light rain is forecast in northern and north-central regions, while moderate to heavy rain could hit areas from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai Provinces, with some locations enduring intense downpours and thunderstorms.
In the northern region, light rain and morning fog will likely occur between October 31 and November 4, with chilly nights and early mornings.
The agency warned of strong winds, lightning, and whirlwinds during rainstorms, adding that intense rainfall could cause flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods in smaller rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes.
In related news, severe flooding also remains a concern in the central province of Quang Binh, where water levels in the Kien Giang River recede slowly.
The weather center predicted that widespread flooding in the area will continue through Thursday, especially in Le Thuy District, Quang Ninh District, and Dong Hoi City.
