The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a decision approving a detailed zoning plan for the development of the Quang An Peninsula, which includes the construction of a VND10-trillion (US$394 million) theater in Dam Tri Lake next to the city's iconic West Lake.

Upon completion, the theater will be 38.5 meters tall, said Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, chairman of the Tay Ho District People’s Committee.

The planned area, which spans 44 hectares in Tay Ho, comprises greenery, a theater, an entertainment area, a spiritual park, a cultural theme park, a commercial and service area, and hotels.

The modern and large-scale theater will be among the highlights of the central space of the peninsula in the district.

Khuyen told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Thursday that the theater would be named Ngoc Trai (Pearl) and carry a price tag of nearly VND10 trillion.

In 2022, the Tay Ho People’s Committee garnered feedback and opinions about the zoning plan for the heart of Quang An Peninsula, featuring the construction of a 1,600-seater theater in Dam Tri Lake near West Lake.

Many officials, agencies, and residents threw their support behind the project, according to the district.
