A 48-year-old woman has been arrested for physically abusing children at a childcare facility run by herself in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Earlier, police in the provincial city of Vung Tau received reports about child abuse at her home-based childcare facility in an alley at 318 Le Loi Street, Ward 7 last weekend.

By Monday morning, the woman, identified as Trinh Thi B., was summoned for questioning but she was unable to provide legal documents authorizing her to care for children in her residence and lacked qualifications in early childhood education.

A video provided by her former employee revealed multiple instances of abuse.

In the video, she was seen covering children’s noses with her hand, slapping their mouths, faces, and heads, pulling their hair, and hitting their mouths with a spoon and a TV remote.

Officers confirmed that B. had abused kids born in 2022 and 2023 on three separate occasions on December 3, 5, and 6.

Police issued an emergency arrest warrant and detained B. on Monday evening for further investigation.
