The first phase of the installation of an artistic lighting system on the Ba Son Bridge, which connects District 1 and Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City, has been completed ahead of the new year.

Since Monday evening, the bridge illuminated with the lighting system has become a highlight in the city and excited many local residents and tourists.

Nguyen Hoang Nam, a 24-year-old resident of Tan Phu District, stopped on the bridge to take photos, drawn by its dazzling lighting system, which has recently completed the first phase of installation.

“The bridge with the artistic lightning system looks brighter and more beautiful. I am proud that the city has such a nicely-decorated place,” Nam said.

Tran Van An, 29, living in Binh Thanh District, stood on the Thu Thiem Bridge opposite the Ba Son Bridge to admire the latter’s new look, saying it is sparkling at night.

He hoped that locals would join hands to preserve the bridge’s visual appeal by maintaining the lighting system and keeping both sides of the bridge clean.

Construction of the Ba Son Bridge, spanning the Saigon River, commenced in 2015 to the tune of VND3,082 billion (US$120 million).

Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment JSC completed and handed over the Ba Son Bridge to the city in April 2022.

This cable-stayed bridge stretches a total of 1.4 kilometers and has six lanes of traffic.

The bridge’s main span is 885 meters long, while its tower is 113 meters tall.

The bridge, despite being a modern symbol of Ho Chi Minh City given its impressive architecture, previously lacked an artistic lighting system.
