After nearly two weeks of persistent drizzle and damp conditions, northern Vietnam is set to experience clearer skies and rising temperatures starting Thursday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Since February 16, a lingering cold air mass combined with westerly winds has kept the region overcast and humid.
However, forecasters say the system is weakening, bringing warmer, drier weather in the coming days.
From Friday to Monday, northern provinces, including Hanoi, can expect mostly sunny and dry conditions, with only occasional morning mist and light drizzle.
Temperatures in the capital could reach 28 degrees Celsius, while Dien Bien and Son La may see highs of 29-31 degrees.
The sunny stretch is welcome news for residents struggling with prolonged dampness, as the return of dry weather offers a chance to air out clothes and household items.
However, meteorologists warn that another round of rain is expected around March 4-5.
Despite the upcoming relief, March and April are typically marked by intermittent drizzle, mist, and high humidity, said Nguyen Van Huong, head of the forecasting department at the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Historically, the region experiences 7-10 days of drizzle in March and 4-6 days in April.
While this year’s pattern is expected to stay within normal ranges, residents should prepare for continued weather fluctuations in the weeks ahead.
