A representative from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City has denied rumors that the under-construction T3 terminal would start operations on May 5.
Recently, conjectures circulating on social media claimed that the T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport would officially open on May 5, sparking public interest.
The shared information suggested that starting from May 5, the T3 terminal would handle domestic flights for Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, while the T1 terminal would serve Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vietravel Airlines, and Vasco.
However, the representative from Tan Son Nhat International Airport affirmed that this is not official information issued by the airport.
According to the representative, the airport has yet to announce the official date for the T3 terminal's opening.
The Airports Corporation of Vietnam, the project investor, has set a goal to complete and inaugurate the T3 terminal around the Reunification Day (April 30) holiday this year.
Aviation service businesses at Tan Son Nhat International Airport also revealed that there is a possibility of the terminal being ready for use by the Reunification Day holiday. Areas selling food, beverages, and other products are now ready for operation.
The opening of the T3 terminal will be a significant milestone in efforts to ease the overload at the T1 terminal, which has been seriously congested for many years.
The T3 passenger terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport was launched in December 2022, with a total investment of VND10,990 billion (US$430 million).
The project includes four main components: a passenger terminal, a multi-story parking building integrated with non-aeronautical services, an elevated road system in front of the terminal, and an aircraft parking area.
A highlight of the T3 terminal is its modern design, featuring 89 traditional check-in counters, 20 automatic baggage drop counters, 42 check-in kiosks, 26 boarding gates, and 25 security checkpoints.
Once completed, the terminal is expected to handle over 20 million passengers annually and accommodate 7,000 passengers during peak hours.
