-- Vietnam is actively addressing the U.S. side’s current concerns over economic, trade, and investment ties, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a reception for U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Evans Knapper in Hanoi on Thursday.

-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Thursday afternoon, concluding their official visits to Indonesia and Singapore with good results.

-- Many localities in the northern region are forecast to experience high temperatures and humidity on Friday, while the Central Highlands and southern regions might undergo a widespread heatwave from morning until early afternoon, but will see scattered rain, paired with thunderstorms, in the late afternoon and evening.

-- The US$431-million T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City will run on a trial basis before starting official operations after the peak travel period of Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1), a representative from the airport told a press briefing on Thursday.

-- Speaking at a meeting on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the need for a quicker and earlier application of vehicle emission standards in highly polluted cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to reduce the impact of vehicles on air quality.

-- Vissan Joint Stock Company has written to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance and the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, asking for spikes in prices of certain pork products added to the market stabilization program.

-- Kazakhstan’s national flag carrier Air Astana and SCAT Airlines have scheduled flights from Almaty and Astana to Da Nang City, central Vietnam, starting this June, after the two airlines worked with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam to launch the new air routes, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

World News

-- The Johns Hopkins University said on Thursday it will slash over 2,000 jobs in the U.S. and abroad after the administration of President Donald Trump terminated $800 million in grants to the renowned academic institution, according to Reuters.

-- A U.S. House of Representatives oversight subcommittee said on Thursday it is investigating the collision in January between an Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines regional jet that killed 67 people near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, reported Reuters.
