A large-scale military parade rehearsal for the upcoming 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30) took place on Thursday at the National Military Training Center 4, on the outskirts of Hanoi.
The event was organized by the Ministry of National Defense and overseen by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
Compared to an earlier rehearsal on March 4, Thursday’s session introduced the Military Honour Guard, who performed a rifle drill and formation display.

Simultaneous rehearsals were held at three additional sites – Military Region 5, Military Region 7, and Army Corps 34 – with all four locations connected via a live broadcast. Across these venues, more than 5,400 personnel participated.
At the Hanoi site, the parade featured a variety of formations, including the female military band; army, navy, air defense and air force personnel; coast guard units; female signal and military medical officers; Vietnamese female peacekeepers; armored soldiers; special forces; and female militia, according to the Voice of Vietnam.
The commando force, an elite unit specializing in reconnaissance and special combat operations, also took part.

Addressing the troops, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Nghia, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, praised the dedication of participating officers and soldiers, highlighting the progress made in parade formations.
He emphasized the political significance of the event and proposed that all personnel involved receive commendations from the defense ministry, with the possibility of recognition in future rank promotions.
He also urged military leaders to personally visit training sites, assess the health and morale of troops, and ensure high-quality preparation.
During the training sessions, regional commanders were instructed to accompany their units for thorough inspections.

The female military band stood out for their discipline and poise, demonstrating perseverance and determination in their role.
Their presence underscored the contributions of women in the Vietnam People’s Army, drawing admiration from onlookers.
To contribute to enhancing the scale and impact of the parade, Nghia suggested incorporating artists and performers from military theaters and art troupes into the formation and lettering display teams, aiming to create a visually striking and culturally resonant commemoration.
