After a party with alcohol and dog meat, nine people in Tuyen Quang Province, northern Vietnam were hospitalized for chemical poisoning.

Hung Vuong General Hospital in Phu Tho Province, a neighbor of Tuyen Quang, reported on Monday that they recently received the patients.

Earlier, the nine were rushed to Hung Vuong - Kim Xuyen General Clinic in Tuyen Quang Province on Saturday evening.

They developed symptoms of sore throat, headache, nausea, and dizziness.

According to the Tuyen Quang Department of Health, at 6:00 pm on Saturday, N.D.T.'s family in Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang Province organized a party with 15 tables for around 80 people, serving dog meat, noodles, and alcohol.

By 7:00 pm, nine people who drank alcohol from a plastic bottle started showing symptoms of sore throat, headache, nausea, and dizziness.

The plastic bottle had previously contained Eco Farm Star disinfectant solution, a potent disinfectant used for sterilizing livestock barns.

Upon receiving the patients, doctors diagnosed them with corrosive substance poisoning and immediately performed gastric lavage.

The initial cause of the poisoning was suspected to be the reuse of the plastic bottle that previously contained harmful chemicals to store the alcohol.

The patients were later transferred to Hung Vuong General Hospital in Phu Tho Province for further monitoring and treatment.

As of now, the patients' health has stabilized, and they have been discharged from the hospital.

Many alcohol poisoning incidents have occurred in Vietnam, leading to hospitalizations and even deaths. Experts have warned of the dangers of drinking low-quality alcohol.

Doctors have also advised people to only consume alcohol from trusted sources, produced and distributed by reputable establishments, and to avoid drinking homemade alcohol or alcohol without labels, as it may contain impurities or harmful chemicals.

People are warned not to reuse containers that hold chemicals or other substances for storing alcohol.
