An Indonesian man wrote a thank-you letter to Vietnamese police for finding and returning a smartphone that he had accidentally left at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on March 17.
An officer from the police station at the airport said on Saturday that officers had worked closely with relevant units to locate and return the device left behind at the airport.
Aldo Allexiuse Lam, an Indonesian national, arrived in Vietnam with his family for a vacation on March 17.
While at the airport, he accidentally left his iPhone 16 in a restroom.
Upon realizing his phone was missing and finding it no longer in the restroom, he sought help from airport staff.
Following their guidance, he reported the lost item to the Tan Son Nhat Airport police.
Police officers immediately began investigating the matter.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Trong and Major Phan Van Thanh were assigned to resolve the case.

In a swift response, police traced the phone to Bau Ham 2 Commune in Thong Nhat District under Dong Nai Province.
Working with local police, they contacted the individual who had found the phone and persuaded him to return it.
On March 19, Lam was reunited with his device at the Tan Son Nhat Airport police station.
Lam expressed his gratitude, admitting that in the bustling airport, where thousands pass through daily, he had little hope of recovering his phone.
However, he credited police for their diligence and swift action in making its return possible.
Moved by their dedication, he wrote a heartfelt thank-you letter to express his sincere appreciation.
