Traffic police in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City issued an administrative violation record against a 75-year-old Chinese man for riding an electric suitcase on Le Thanh Ton Street, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police informed on Monday.
On Sunday, traffic police officers invited Z.T. to the Ben Nghe Ward police station for questioning regarding his use of an electric suitcase on Le Thanh Ton Street on March 20.
At the police station, Z.T. admitted to the violation. Police fined him VND225,000 (US$8.8) for using a scooter or similar devices on roadways.
At 9:00 am on the same day, traffic police in District 1 found a woman operating an electric suitcase on Le Duan Boulevard.
When questioned by traffic police, the woman, identified as T.T.N.T., 43, presented her ID. Officers later fined her VND225,000 ($8.80), local media reported.
T. admitted to the violation and promised not to ride an electric suitcase on the street again.
Ho Chi Minh City traffic police urged the public to avoid using electric suitcases on the road, citing violations of traffic laws and potential risks to both riders and other commuters.
Electric suitcases are typically used in airport corridors or waiting areas to help reduce foot fatigue.
