Vietnam’s commanding 4-0 victory over Laos in the last 2018 AFC U-19 Championship qualifying match on Wednesday sent them through to the tournament finals as Group H winners, boasting three victories in as many matches.
The decisive victory was icing on the cake for Vietnam, who had already secured a sport in the finals after wins over Macau and Taiwan.
Bao Toan and Quang Nho’s goals within the first two minutes of play sent confidence through the team that carried them throughout the first half.
As Vietnam’s dominance continued into the second half, Nam Cung added a goal to the scoreboard on the hour mark, shortly before Tien Anh curled a shot into the net to seal the victory.
The Group H winners netted eight goals and conceded only one during their three group-stage wins.
The 2018 AFC U-19 Championship will take place in Indonesia between October 18 and November 4, with a total of 16 teams taking part.
