Winning only four out of 10 experimental games at the VBA Bubble Premier Games - Brought to you by NovaWorld Phan Thiet 2021, Hanoi Buffaloes is preparing new approaches to the 2022 VBA.

New member

At the 2021 VBA, Tam Dinh, the Best Player of the 2019 VBA, had little to show in the jersey of the Vietnamese national basketball team.

Many people, however, look forward to his contribution to Hanoi Buffaloes in the next season, following his transfer to the Hanoi-based team, which is likely to require the coaching board to try new formations.

The new formations must not only meet the VBA’s regulations on the number of foreign and Vietnamese-born players in each team, which varies in each season, but also ensure the use of Sang Dinh, another star player in Hanoi Buffaloes who is Tam Dinh’s younger brother.

The presence of both Tam Dinh and Sang Dinh in the offense will strengthen the Buffaloes’ power.

Cohesive squad

It will be no surprise if Hanoi Buffaloes retains Mike Bell in their squad for the next VBA season, given the 39-year-old player’s stable form and strong connection with other players on the team.

Besides, Dinh Tien Cong, Bui Thai Ha, Nguyen Tien Duong, and Doan Xuan Tung are experienced and stable Vietnamese players that tend to stick with Hanoi Buffaloes for a long time.

In addition, Nguyen Duong Quang Anh and Nguyen Van Thang are two young, promising stars.

Van Thang played explosively in the game against the Vietnamese national basketball team.

Coaching duo

At the 2020 VBA, under the guidance of coach Eric Weissling and assistant coach Hoang The Vinh, Hanoi Buffaloes thrived from a struggling state in the start of the tourney to successfully sneak through the narrow door to the semifinals.

In addition to developing the current squad, coach Weissling has built a unique identity for Hanoi Buffaloes right from the selection of junior players in the Jr. Hanoi Buffaloes.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Vinh can understand the Vietnamese players thanks to his former experience as a player.

Vinh has acted as the perfect match for Mexican strategist Weissling over the past two years.

Many experts believe that Hanoi Buffaloes will definitely continue to develop toward winning the VBA title under the joint efforts of Weissling and Vinh.
