Vietnamese billiards player Tran Quyet Chien clinched the coveted gold medal at the Porto World Cup held in Portugal on Sunday, marking his second victory in a World Cup competition during his career.
Chien proved his skills in the one-sided final in Porto where he showcased his dominance over Egyptian opponent Sameh Sidhom, securing a resounding 50-30 victory in just 27 innings.
Sidhom, who ranks eighth in the world rankings, had a promising start in the final by winning the lag and showcasing a solid run of six points.
However, Chien swiftly responded and consistently outperformed his Egyptian opponent throughout the entire match.
The Vietnamese player appeared composed and relaxed, while Sidhom struggled to keep up.
As a result, Chien claimed his well-deserved victory and a cash prize of US$16,000.
Sidhom received the silver medal.

Previously, Chien had faced his young compatriot Chiem Hong Thai, comfortably securing a 50-26 victory in just 20 innings in the semifinal.
In the other semifinal, Jeremy Bury from France suffered a significant setback when Sidhom compiled an impressive run of 19 points in the second inning, which ultimately proved insurmountable for the French player as he struggled to regain his footing, resulting in a final score of 50-20 in 31/30 innings.
Both Bury and Thai were awarded a bronze medal.
The second World Cup title also saw Chien ascend to 10th position in the global rankings.
Chien, known for his exceptional position-play skills, previously claimed his inaugural World Cup title in Ho Chi Minh City back in 2018.
The Porto World Cup, hosting 14 players, took place in Porto from June 26 to Sunday.
