Vietnamese billiards player Duong Quoc Hoang triumphed over his American rival in the final of the 9-Ball Jacoby Scottish Open 2024 in Glasgow, Scotland on Monday (Vietnam time), securing the first-ever pool title for the Southeast Asian country in the World Nineball Tour history.

In the opening minutes, Oscar Dominguez from the U.S. took the lead at 8-4.

However, Hoang staged a remarkable comeback, winning six consecutive games to secure a 10-8 victory over his opponent.

The Jacoby Scottish Open 2024 drew 104 billiards players worldwide, including 10 top-ranked cueists.

Hoang’s historic win earned him GBP10,000 (US$12,530).

He is slated to compete at the UK Open Pool Championship 2024 in the UK from Tuesday to Sunday.

As the first Vietnamese cueist to join the World Professional Nineball Tour Corporation, the 36-year-old player now shares the spotlight with globally renowned figures such as Ko Ping-Chung, Ko Pin-Yi, Joshua Filler, Jayson Shaw, Shane van Boening, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, and Fedor Gorst.
