The Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA of America) inked a partnership agreement with JG Golf Vietnam, the official distributor of PGA products in Vietnam, in Hanoi on Monday, marking an important step in the Southeast Asian country’s golf development.
The partnership with PGA of America will help bring high-quality golf products.
Vietnam has become and is continuing to grow as one of the world’s leading golf centers, said Sean D. Thornberry, global development director at the PGA of America.
Over the past few years, the golf movement in Vietnam has been growing rapidly, leaving a strong impression internationally.
After the historic gold medal by Le Khanh Hung at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia in May 2023, Vietnamese golfers Nguyen Anh Minh, Le Khanh Hung, and Ho Anh Huy continued to make history by winning the 30th Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship, or the Nomura Cup 2024, held in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam in October last year.
Regarding the opportunity for Vietnamese golfers to participate in international tournaments and approach top events like the PGA Tour, Thornberry stated that this is feasible.
The PGA mainly operates in the U.S.. This program is open to everyone worldwide, Thornberry noted, adding that “I believe Vietnamese golfers can achieve this, but it is not simple, as, in addition to skill, language is also a requirement. This partnership is a foundation for us to break down those barriers."
With its golf development, Vietnam has cemented its position and bright prospects on the regional and global golf map.
Through its collaboration with JG Golf Vietnam, the PGA of America aims to bring premium golf products closer to golfers and fans in Vietnam.
In 2025, Vietnam's most important goal in golf is to achieve success at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in Thailand in December.
Founded in 1916, the PGA of America is one of the largest and most influential sports organizations in the world.
The PGA serves over 30,000 professional golfers across the U.S. and is dedicated to promoting golf and the golf profession globally.
