An exhibition showcasing Vietnam through the lens of female photographers from the Ho Chi Minh City Photographers Association kicked off on Sunday morning in District 1, marking its 10th iteration after a year-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 was a tough year for Ho Chi Minh City specifically and Vietnam generally, when women had to endure the pressure of taking care of their families while participating in the collective fight against the coronavirus.

Women from all walks of life either involved themselves in the frontline forces or delivered humanitarian aid to people in need when the pandemic hit the country.

Some were infected by the virus, but the supply of food and medicines to the pandemic-ridden areas was never disrupted.

And during this hard time, the passion for photography bloomed on every single journey of the female photographers.

The country before and after the pandemic is depicted in 126 artworks from 42 female photographers featured at the exhibition.

Many paintings have gained awards in national and international races.
