Tourists can now take in stunning natural scenery while dining at a restaurant in vintage train carriages operating at night in Da Lat City, a popular tourist site in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.
Vietnam Railways Corporation launched the nighttime rail service on Sunday evening to bring the romance of vintage rail travel to visitors.
The train route links the city center and Trai Mat, which is a suburb of Da Lat and boasts dreamy natural landscapes.
Two pairs of trains are scheduled for the service, starting at Da Lat Station at 6:15 pm and 8:20 pm each night to serve locals and travelers.
The return train rides depart from Trai Mat Station at 7:15 pm and 21:20 pm.

The night train service, called ‘Da Lat night journey,’ is expected to diversify the city’s tourism products and satisfy visitors who are seeking an immersive experience.

While taking a nighttime rail ride, passengers can enjoy a romantic meal, relish sparkling views, and soak up a classical music performance.
Dao Anh Tuan, chairman of Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, said that the round-trip nighttime rail journey lasts an hour.
With its speed of 15 kilometers per hour, passengers can admire the city in a comfortable and relaxed manner.

In 2023, Da Lat Station started its operation with various night tourism activities, including the launch of vintage carriages equipped with music.
The 6.7-kilometer Da Lat - Trai Mat route is part of the Thap Cham - Da Lat rail link, which stretches 84 kilometers from Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam to Lam Dong Province.
The rail line, built by the French, was put into operation in 1932, and is the only serrated railway in Vietnam.
