Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam was honored as a smart city at the DX Award 2024 presentation ceremony organized by the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
The annual ASOCIO DX Award aims to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the utilization and implementation of digital technologies.
Award nominees are outstanding individuals, organizations, and businesses in the 24 member economies of ASOCIO.
This year’s ASOCIO DX Award featured ten categories: the Outstanding Tech Organization Award, the Smart City Award, the Digital Government Award, the EdTech Award, the HealthTech Award, the Cybersecurity Award, the ESG Award, the Emerging Digital Solutions & Ecosystem Award, the Women in Tech Award, and the Public / Private Partnership Award.
Vietnam left the ASOCIO DX Award 2024 with nine representatives being honored, and Thua Thien-Hue Province specifically won the ASOCIO Smart City Award.
The recognition demonstrated the province’s efforts in building a smart city and boosting digitalization.
The province has implemented various e-government, smart urban, and digital transformation-driven programs over the past few years.
With great strides in its innovation and digitalization efforts, the province has bagged multiple coveted prizes, including Asia’s most innovative smart city project at the Telecom Asia Awards 2019.
In 2022, Thua Thien-Hue claimed the digital government award at the ASOCIO edition in 2022.
The province placed fourth among all 63 cities and provinces in Vietnam for the Digital Transformation Index in 2022 and topped the Vietnam 2023 Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) rankings.
