The third Vietnam Bánh Mì Festival held its opening ceremony on Friday evening at Le Van Tam Park in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, featuring a variety of bread from around the world.

Before that, the festival had opened its doors to visitors on Friday morning.

Nguyen Thi Khanh, president of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, highlighted that the third Vietnam Bánh Mì Festival is not only a celebration of Vietnam’s culinary culture but also a platform to showcase it on the global stage.

Khanh stated at a press conference in February that the festival is expected to attract over 150,000 domestic and international visitors.

The festival impresses visitors not only with its diverse and tasty offerings but also with its eye-catching displays, including a welcoming gate adorned with 1,100 loaves of both real and model bánh mì, a boat featuring 100 seafood-inspired bánh mì dishes, and a section dedicated to the evolution of bánh mì, along with a bamboo road experience area showcasing animal-shaped bánh mì.

The festival features 141 booths from bánh mì producers and vendors, including offerings from Asia Bakery - Confectionery JSC, a bánh mì feast with over 300 dishes paired with coffee, drinks, and Vietnamese tea, and fresh breads from the Sugar Town brand.

French tourist Elodie shared her appreciation for the Vietnamese bánh mì, noting its crispy crust, delicious filling, and unique side vegetables, distinguishing it from other types of bread like baguettes and sandwiches.

Australian tourist Archie, who tried a loaf of bánh mì with chả (Vietnamese pork rolls), described it as “fantastic” and said he would return to the bánh mì festival on Saturday.
