After passing the required quality standards for food products, packages of Vietnamese grilled bananas wrapped in sticky rice have been shipped to Europe and Australia.

Over the past few days, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Binh and her workers have been working around the clock to produce nearly six thousand grilled bananas for export to Australia and Germany. 

Bich’s factory, which is based in Long Tuyen Ward, Binh Thuy District, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, specializes in making grilled bananas covered with sticky rice, a popular food locally.

“We have exported about 5,000 – 6,000 grilled bananas every flight on average,” Bich told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

“We have shipped more than 30,000 bananas to Australia and Germany since the beginning of this year.”

In order to make enough products for export, Bich’s company has hired more workers.

The workers are divided into groups to perform various tasks including peeling the ripe bananas, wrapping each in sticky rice, and putting them into microwave ovens to be grilled.

According to Bich, her bananas have gone through a long and difficult process of meeting strict quality standards.

With the support of an export company, they were able to enter the discerning markets of Europe and Australia.

“Grilled bananas wrapped in sticky rice can be frozen as a good state of preservation for up to two years, so they can meet all the rigorous standards of food safety to be approved,” Bich recalled.

“This is really good news because [these products] are now also qualified for export to other countries.”

Bich hopes to continue exporting her products to more foreign markets in the near future.
