Nearly 100 people including diplomats from many countries will attend the gala dinner of this year’s ‘Day of Pho’ event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper in Hanoi on Thursday evening.

Titled ‘The Story of Pho,’ the gala dinner is a high-level event for diplomats, politicians, and representatives of international organizations and foreign news agencies.

The event is organized for the first time within the framework of the annual ‘Day of Pho’ event, which is celebrated on December 12.

Diplomats from the U.S., France, Japan, South Africa, Argentina, and Southeast Asian countries will be among the attendees.

Participants will be invited to have a feast of traditional bowls of pho as well as many variations of the dish, namely chicken pho, pho with wine sauce, pho served in stone bowls, and Muslim pho, among others.

The gala dinner will feature interesting stories about pho, such as how the Vietnamese pho made its way to the Christmas menu of the Swedish royal family, or how Palestinian Ambassador Saadi Salama sophisticatedly enjoyed his bowls of pho.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to understand more deeply about the origin and ingredients of pho as well as the art of eating the dish.

Aside from promoting pho, the essence of Vietnamese cuisine, the event is also hoped to boost the value of Vietnamese agricultural products and expand their international markets, including the Halal market.
