Vietnam, Hanoi - The Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts in Vietnam are proud to announce that its two properties, namely the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi and the Mövenpick Hotel Saigon have successfully achieved Green Globe certification, marking them the very first hotels in all of Vietnam to receive this prestigious recognition.

The Green Globe certification for the two flagship properties in Vietnam, is in recognition for their significant environmental, social and cultural preservation efforts. The certification by the independent international organisation; Green Globe, follows an audit at both hotels where compliance to 337 indicators were measured. These standards range from customer satisfaction, water consumption and energy use, to community commitment, waste management and internal training.

In line with the Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts direction, the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi and Saigon are committed to continuously improve sustainability efforts, by carrying out business in line with the value of care in a responsible, resourceful and lasting way. The aim of this global sustainability approach is to increase awareness regarding the environment and share best practice ideas and initiatives within the company as well as the community. The entire process is supported by clear and measurable objectives.

General Manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi, Philip Jones said: “By nature, the hospitality industry is a large consumer of energy and other resources. At Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts we aim to reduce its consumption through the use of basic measures such as energy efficient lighting, water consumption reduction and a better management of waste and chemicals. To ensure the proper implementation of this policy, we have developed specific objectives and will monitor performance against these objectives. We are proud of our achievements and will challenge ourselves to improve the standards since this is an ongoing process”.

General Manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Saigon, Craig Smith shared: “Green Globe Certification is the worldwide hallmark for sustainability in the travel and tourism industry, and this recognition reaffirms the Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts’ commitment to continued efforts to operate in an economically, environmentally and socially responsible manner. Through a broad spectrum of initiatives, we would like to create awareness not only within our team but also asking our customers, partners, suppliers, employees and the community as a whole to join hands with us to make our world a better place to live in”.
