Nhom Mua returns with uncertain voucher usability

Nhom Mua returns with uncertain voucher usability

Tuesday, December 25, 2012, 12:18 GMT+7

Beleaguered groupon company Nhom Mua announced Monday that its website www.nhommua.com has resumed operation after two temporary shutdowns early this month and in mid-November, but its customers will now have to follow a complex procedure to find out whether their Nhom Mua vouchers are still usable or not. Those holding Nhom Mua vouchers with valid dates will have to wait for a confirmation from the company, either via email, telephone, or post, to know the addresses of service providers accepting the vouchers, said Nguyen Thi Thanh Van on behalf of the company’s board of directors. During the time in which confirmation is pending, should customers want to use the vouchers they must contact the company hotline to confirm the vouchers’ validity and listen to guidance from the company attendants on how to use them as per new regulations, she added. The deal-of-the-day company, based in Ho Chi Minh City, has repeatedly found itself in troubled waters since mid-November, when its website became inaccessible on November 15 and its headquarters were blockaded by economic police. Just a month after the website shutdown incident, on December 11, Nhom Mua experienced another upheaval from its board of directors, with the general manager proposing to step down. The usability of the Nhom Mua vouchers came into question in both of the incidents, as many customers were rejected when using them for payment. Company representatives have reassured customers and promised refunds prior to announcing this new solution on Monday.
