Several intersections in the city allow right turns at red lights, with some displaying signs that read, “Yield to right-turning vehicles.”
However, many drivers often block the right-turn lane when stopping at red lights.
“Many times, I could turn right and continue, but vehicles in front of me block the lane, forcing me to wait,” said Nguyen Van Tam, a delivery driver.
“If they just moved slightly left, I and others could go.”

“When I’m late for work, I end up waiting because I can’t turn right, even though the light allows it,” said Hong, an office worker commuting on Dien Bien Phu Street.
“It’s simple to leave the right-turn lane open, but many people don’t follow the rule.”
If followed consistently, the simple rule of leaving space for right turns at intersections could improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and make daily commutes more efficient.
Currently, vehicles needing to turn right are forced to stop, causing delays, especially during peak hours.
