Changes in US visa procedures in the offing

Changes in US visa procedures in the offing

Friday, February 14, 2014, 10:10 GMT+7

A number of important changes will be implemented for the US visa procedures for all nonimmigrant and K1 Fiancé(e)s visa applicants as of February 22, 2014, the US Embassy in Vietnam announced.

>> US visa seller Sestak pleads guilty to three charges Accordingly, the Embassy in Hanoi and the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will apply a new visa service system to facilitate all nonimmigrant visa applicants and K1 Fiancé(e)s in scheduling their appointments, obtaining information about the visa application process, and arranging for the home delivery of their passports – all for one standard fee. Under the new visa procedure, applicants for nonimmigrant visa or K1 Fiancé(e) visa are required to firstly visit www.ustraveldocs.com and print a personalized bank deposit slip. They will then take the deposit slip to any HSBC or Vietnam Post location to pay the visa application fee. Next, they will complete the DS-160 Online Visa Application, and schedule an appointment for the visa interview anytime online at www.ustraveldocs.com or by phone through the Call Center from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m (local time) on Mondays through Fridays. There is no fee for this service.  They will later specify the delivery address for the passport and visa when the appointment is scheduled.  If the application is approved, the passport and visa will be delivered to the specified address at no additional cost.   The Embassy also informs that if visa applicants have already scheduled a visa appointment and paid the visa application fee to Citibank or Eximbank, they should appear at the Embassy or Consulate General on the day of appointment. This means that the new procedures will not affect their ongoing application process. In case applicants have not scheduled a visa appointment but have paid the visa application fee at Citibank or Eximbank, they will not be able to use the new appointment system.  In this case, they should try to schedule an appointment under the existing appointment system before February 22, 2014. If they cannot do so before the date, they should contact the Call Center for instructions. These above-mentioned changes are part of the US Department of State’s continual worldwide effort to streamline the visa application process and provide enhanced service, the US Embassy said.
