Residents living along areas bordering Cambodia are the driving force in protecting national border security, said Lieutenant General Hoang Phi Ho during a workshop in Binh Phuoc southern province on Friday, according to a report by Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

Nguyen The Trung, permanent deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, who made the opening speech, said authorities in provinces along the Vietnam-Cambodia borderline in the southwest should learn from one another experience in how to efficiently conduct mass mobilization.

The report said the workshop attendees agreed that close coordination among units in charge of mass mobilization need to be maximized to encourage border residents to fully comply with the Vietnamese Communist Party’s policies and State’s laws. Six provinces in south-western Vietnam share an 820km land border with Cambodia while Binh Phuoc alone shares a 260.4km border with the neighboring country.
