Vietnam Airlines cancels 24 flights due to storm

Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has announced cancellations of 24 flights scheduled for today and tomorrow due to impacts of Typhoon Son Tinh that is forecast to hit central Vietnam tonight.

In light of adverse weather conditions caused by the powerful storm, the national flag carrier has decided to cancel 14 flights scheduled for today, October 27, between Da Nang, Hue, Dong Hoi and Vinh airports in central Vietnam.

Ten other flights planned for Sunday and involving Vinh and Dong Hoi airports will also be cancelled.

About 2,400 passengers affected by the cancellations will be arranged on other flights as soon as possible, the firm said.

According to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Center, Typhoon Son Tinh is moving 20-25 km in the Ease Sea towards central Vietnam and will hit the area tonight if its direction remains unchanged.
