Thugs attack family, obstruct home entrance with container in Ho Chi Minh City

More than two dozen gang members stormed a house in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, attacking three family members while blocking its entrance with a shipping container.

Nguyen Quang V. was inside his home at 242 Nguyen Oanh Street with his wife and son at around 7:30 pm, when some 30 armed thugs dashed in and asked the family to leave, according to initial police reports.

The 48-year-old began to quarrel with the thugs, sparking one of the gang members to beat him to the point of unconsciousness.

His wife immediately carried their small child outside and began to call for help.

However, after the wife reached the street, a crane truck that had been parked outside dropped a shipping container right in front of the home’s entrance.

“The container had been standing next to my house for three days, but we thought it was there for the construction happening on the plot of land next door,” she said.

“Our security camera was also stolen after the container was placed there.”

Go Vap police arrived at the scene later to remove the container from the home’s entrance.

They are still investigating the case.
