-- The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Coast Guard Zone 4 jointly organized an exhibition featuring maps and archives in consolidation of Vietnam’s sovereignty over its Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos on Phu Quoc, a resort island off the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.


-- The head of the police department in Tri Ton District in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang confirmed on Saturday that an official had shot at the leg of an illegal angler with an airsoft gun the previous day, with the incident being recorded and posted on social networks by witnesses.

-- A toddler in Chau Thanh District in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang has died after gulping down kerosene while crawling around his home on Wednesday.

-- More than 20 fishermen were rescued on Friday and Saturday after their boats had sunk off southern Ben Tre Province, central Quang Tri Province and the northern city of Hai Phong earlier this week. 

-- At least seven people were killed in three separate road accidents happening on Saturday in southern Tien Giang Province, and Gia Lai and Binh Dinh Provinces in the central region.


-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Saturday visited the locally invented waste-to-energy model which has been successfully adopted at Dong Van 2 Industrial Park in the northern province of Ha Nam.

-- Construction began on Saturday on a recreation complex worth more than VND800 billion (US$ 34.5 million) on Phu Gia Island, located off Rach Gia City, the heart of Kien Giang Province.

-- Nguyen Mai Oanh, deputy chair of the Vietnam Pepper Association, has revealed India had removed its import ban on several Vietnamese agro-products including coffee, pepper, cinnamon and dragon fruits. 


-- A Vietnamese record-breaking performance featuring more than 5,000 elderly and middle-aged members of tai chi (Chinese-origin morning exercise) clubs took place in Hanoi on Saturday.
