Five bodies found in sunken ship off Hai Phong

After seven days of searching, this early morning divers found bodies of five crewmen inside the sunken Vietnamese-flagged ship Hoang Thinh 08 that capsized off Hai Phong northern province on September 5, Vietnam News Agency said in a report.

The bodies were later taken to the local Ninh Hai cemetery for autopsy and funeral.

The dead are Lu Van Doanh, 66, Luu Van Long, 18, Nguyen Van Thom, 42, Nguyen Van Thanh, 23, and Luu Van Khanh, 23. All of them were natives at Truc Ninh district in the northern province of Nam Dinh.

The rescue team is continuing to search for missing crewman Pham Hai Toan.

Hoang Thinh 08 vessel, with a capacity of 2,722 tons, left Nam Dinh northern province at 1:00pm on September 5 and was sailing to Quang Ninh province to receive a shipment, according to local authorities.

It capsized in Hai Phong waters about 13 nautical miles from Long Chau Island at the same evening while nine crew members were on board, they added.

However, three of them including the ship captain Nguyen Van Thang were fortunately rescued by local soldiers.
