Arsenal leaves Vietnam with a nice farewell party

Thursday, July 18, 2013, 10:25 GMT+7

The English Premier League club Arsenal made a beautiful performance in a friendly game in Hanoi yesterday after defeating the Vietnamese national football team 7-1.

Coach Arsene Wenger kept his promise to Vietnamese fans as he sent stars to the field, including Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, Lukas Podolski, Laurent Koscielny, Oliver Giroud, Aaron Ramsey, Ignasi Miguel, and Per Mertesacker.

Giroud scored a hat-trick in the first half of the match. The score sheet was lengthened with other names like Oxlande-Chamberlain in the first minute of the second session, Chuba Akphom who scored a double in the 56th and 59th minutes, and Ignasi Miguel in the 75th minute.

Two minutes before the end of the match, Tran Manh Dung was set up with a pass from the right wing by Quang Hung and brought home a goal of consolation.

In the last minute, midfielder Pham Nguyen Sa created a spectacular straight-line shot around 20 meters from the goal frame but it narrowly went above the bar.

Fans on My Dinh National Stadium witnessed a lot of determination from the host team but it was not enough to level with the skills and talent of the visiting Arsenal players.

With dominance in physical fitness and speed, Arsenal players did not need to move much on the field but could still create a difference, especially when they had the ball. Many times they pierced through the defensive wall of Vietnam thanks to their speed.

A heavy raining occurred during the last minutes of the match but it could not wash out the beautiful memories they had from their trip to Vietnam.

As part of the Asian tour, Arsenal had visited Indonesia and won 7-0 over the host’s dream team.
