-- A large number of people flocked back to Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday, the fourth day of Tet (Lunar New Year), from their hometown in Mekong Delta provinces, causing traffic congestion at both main entrances to the metropolis, namely National Highways 1 and 60.

-- Thousands of vehicles were mired in severe traffic congestion which lasted for hours on a 25-km section of Gie Bridge-Ninh Binh Expressway linking Hanoi and neighboring provinces on Tuesday.

-- An official from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in the Mekong Delta province of Long An confirmed on Tuesday that 92 out of 100 junkies who had broken out of a rehabilitation center in Thanh Hoa District on Sunday, the second day of the Tet holiday, have returned to the venue after running loose for almost two days.

-- An accident happened on Tuesday afternoon on National Highway 50 which runs through Can Giuoc District in Long An Province, killing three people who were riding on two motorbikes, local police confirmed the same night.

Business

-- Dinh La Thang, secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and Le Thanh Liem, deputy chairperson of the municipal People's Committee, on Tuesday paid a visit to Intel’s Vietnam plant, located in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in District 9. Thang highly appreciated the group’s contribution to the city’s gross domestic product and their role in human resource training over the past decade.

-- Representatives of the Big C Vietnam supermarket chain confirmed on Tuesday they had ceased operations at the Hoang Van Thu outlet in Phu Nhuan District starting late January after returning the site to the property developer for renovation.

-- As in previous years, the Huong Pagoda festival in Hanoi’s My Duc District, one of the largest of its kind in Vietnam, welcomed an influx of visitors on Tuesday, the fourth Tet day, with people elbowing one another to make their way through the masses, though the festive event will not kick off until two days later.
