Vietnamese karate students complete training program in mountains

The event was expected to provide them with an opportunity to learn ‘lessons from nature’

A number of young martial art students walked to the central Vietnamese mountains in early July as part of their training curriculum’s final stage, which aimed to cultivate their positive psychological qualities.

Students from Nghia Dung Karate – a well-known martial art school in Thua Thien-Hue Province – trekked uphill with walking poles and backpacks to the summit of the 1.4-kilometer-high Bach Ma Mountain, the highest mountain to the south of the province.

They chose a place to stay temporarily and some others to practice karate, including a 300-meter-high majestic waterfall.

The activity was hoped to strengthen their mutual friendship and bring them a beneficial experience of nature.

The trip followed a final-term test partly to determine whether they were able to move to the highest grade – the black belt rank.

But to be a black-belt wearer, the students were also required to write a follow-up essay on the trip and their three-year karate training at the school.
