Vietnamese premier orders stricter management of military land

Directive No. 01/CT-TTg dictates that competent agencies adjust and improve land zoned for national defense purposes

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has required executive bodies to tighten their management of military land across the country.

PM Phuc on Wednesday issued Directive No. 01/CT-TTg, ordering competent agencies to adjust and improve the management of land, especially that zoned for national defense purposes, and to build a database on land throughout the nation.

The Ministry of National Defense was requested to coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Justice to make changes to current regulations on the management and use of military land.

The adjustment must be pursuant to the law on land and suit the military's.specific functions and duties.

The progress of this mission must be reported to the central government in the second quarter of this year.

The defense ministry, in cooperation with the government inspectorate, environment ministry, and provincial administrations, was tasked with supervising the use of land zoned for national defense.

The prime minister directed that a crackdown be launched on those using and leasing military land for wrong purposes or against the law, and encroaching on such land.

Those agencies in charge will be held accountable for letting such violations happen.

Reports on the said tasks have be submitted to the prime minister prior to November 30, according to the directive.
