The Ferrari driver who caused a fatal crash that killed a motorbike rider in Hanoi earlier this week has turned himself in to local police, the police said on Thursday.
Police officers have had the Hanoi Center for Forensic Medicine take blood and urine samples of the driver - 25-year-old Hoang Bang Viet - to test for alcohol and drugs in order to investigate the cause of the traffic accident.
Viet went to a local police station at 10:00 pm on Tuesday and admitted to causing the deadly crash while driving the Ferrari.
The luxury car, which bears the plate number 80-346-NG-74, collided with a motorbike numbered 29T1-337.35 on Le Quang Dao Street in Nam Tu Liem District at around 5:00 am on Monday, killing the bike rider - 58-year-old L.D.T. - at the scene.
Viet and a female companion - 34-year-old N.T.N.A., who is residing in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City - fled the scene due to panic after causing the accident.
During the investigation into the case, police officers tracked the vehicle registration database and confirmed the Ferrari owner is a foreign person, whose identity is undisclosed.
The police have not revealed how the driver got the Ferrari.
The investigation is ongoing.
